We believe that true prevention means addressing the root causes of exploitation.
-
Sexual exploitation happens when a child or youth is taken advantage of sexually, often by being groomed, pressured, or manipulated into sexual activity or sharing sexual content in exchange for having their needs met.
This could be for attention, affection, safety, money, status, or belonging — and it can happen both online and offline.
We believe that prevention means addressing these root causes, building resilience, and educating communities to stop exploitation before it starts.
-
We believe that addressing the root causes of sexual exploitation includes:
1. Promoting a culture of consent- both in person and digitally.
2. Addressing the vulnerabilities that lead to victimization as well as perpetration.
3. Fostering a society where human beings are treated with dignity and respect. Where nobody has a price tag.
Our most recent project: Inspired by our curriculum and live presentations.
Scripted by Tiana Taylor.
“I am very proud of this project!
Drawing from over a decade of experience, and incorporating my unique approach to prevention (click here for more details on that), I developed the breakdown of topics for this project into age appropriate modules, and then scripted over 80 videos ensuring that every word conveyed the messaging behind the psychology of vulnerability- both from a victim and perpetrator perspective.
Watching my personal experiences, and stories with children and youth, come to life through animation in the scripted cartoon videos was a complete treat! I am so grateful to Alexandra Ford, Sarah Dillon, and Carol Todd who channeled their personal experiences in providing their expertise and ensuring our materials were trauma-informed.“
